Magic Packet Utility
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are a lot of different "Magic Packet" tools that can be used to turn computers on remotely, but sometimes it's necessary to have a simple tool, that can be started from command prompt or be included in a batch file.
Usage
It requires only two command-line parameters.
First is network broadcast address. This should be a broadcast IP address of the network to which the target computer is connected. UDP packets sent to this address must be able to reach the target computer. For example, if your target computer's network address was 192.168.0.15 and network mask is 255.255.255.0, the network's broadcast address would be 192.168.0.255. If you are in the same network segment, you can use 255.255.255.255. The second is "physical" MAC (Media Access Control) address. To obtain target computer ethernet adapter's MAC address, run
ipconfig /all
on the target computer. So, the command line should look like this:
WakeIt 192.168.0.255 00-a0-15-65-5e-34
