| Plan/B is a distributed, network aware data backup system, designed for business environments. It can work with either single machines, or many machines connected via a network. It has been designed to use standard protocols (for example, FTP) or make use of existing shares such as Windows sharing, SAMBA, or NFS. Plan/B allows you to make use of hardware on remote computers. You can instruct the backup server to backup files to a CDROM on another host, for example. In addition, the system provides excellent logging and reporting facilities, which keep you informed of what is being backed up when, and to where. While designed for corporate environments, Plan/B is equally happy running on personal machines. The same set of features are available to the home user or enthusiast. |
