BIND 9
BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) is a versatile freeware DNS server. Originally created for UNIX, it runs on many operating systems, including Windows. This build is able to transform your Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 system into DNS server with a little efforts from you.
BIND is open-source, freeware, and written in C++. That makes it better than any other commercial product out there. I took many DNS servers for tests, and all of them failed to BIND, excerpt for Windows Server 2003 built-in DNS services. Probably, there is no reason to update your Windows Server 2003 with BIND, but in all other cases, take a look at BIND as it is de-facto standard in Internet.
ISC, being owner and developer of the project, does not ship the binary files for BIND, so I built it on my own, ans shared on this page. If you are not familiar with Microsoft Visual C++ (i.e. you are normal system administrator), it may be hard for you to create your own build of BIND. So this page is intended to help you.
The current version of this build: 9.3 Build date: 14/05/2005
Download the binary files here. Inside archive, you will find setup executable, PGP signature, and a simple readme.
